Flor da Mata, also known as Ni Hua, is a small Huni Kuin village on the Tarauacá River, near Jordão, in Acre, Brazil.
The village is currently building a Shubuã, also known as a Kupixawa, a house of prayer and gathering space that sits at the center of community life. It is where people come together to pray, sing, hold ceremonies, receive visitors, share teachings, and discuss the next steps for the village.
They need support to finish this sacred space before the beginning of summer, when the community’s energy turns toward planting food for the rainy season.

The funds raised here will be used to buy the remaining building materials and pay the carpenter to finish the Shubuã. Part of the funds will also go toward purchasing and installing a water pumping system for the village.

Flor da Mata is part of the Huni Kuin people, guardians of a rich Amazonian culture of songs, weaving, painting, ceremony, prayer, and deep knowledge of the forest.
At the moment, people walk every day to the spring and carry water back to the village, often carrying heavy gallons over long distances. This task is usually done by the women, with young people and elders also taking turns. A simple pump would make daily life much easier and safer for the whole community.

In August 2026, we will also be receiving small groups for an immersion in the heart of the Amazon jungle, from 03 to 12 August and from 17 to 26 August.
This retreat will also be a celebration of the conclusion of the Kupixawa. All resources that come through this immersion will be used to support the Huni Kuin families of Flor da Mata.
