Content Schmontent

Content Sch-montent and why is it just everywhere?! If you find yourself trolling through Pinterest or screen grabbing other people’s creative ideas - then you’ll love today’s entry!

As we Zoom (literally) through 2021 - if there’s one thing that is catching our eyes more so than the pandemic announcements - it has to be Content! It’s absa-fuckin-loutely EVERYWHERE. The Gram’ - The Book’ - Pinterest - Even my nan’s retirement village has a powerpoint slide on repeat. that has some eye raising graphics.

And that’s not all.

Even if we’re not business owners, we are turning to digital applications to create content in our everyday lives, myself included! The shift of the Earth’s energy is leaning ever more towards the feminine, and with the rise of the feminine comes creativity. With our creative flairs ready to set a blaze, we are all well equipped with a beady eye for what will and won’t catch us alight. We’ve cottoned on to the content.

The most commonly requested service from AirDesk Studios - is Content Creation. In this blog post, I’ll guide you through my 5-fool proof ways to creating original and capturing content.

Point 1.

Find yourself a Theme and Stick with it

The first step to creating content that captures is finding yourself a theme. This theme could take the form of an image, a colour, a graphic, or even a catch phrase! But use that theme and let it continue throughout your content. Let’s say your content piece in this example is a landing page; you may have the theme of house plants. Now, what can you pull out from houseplants that is relevant to your content? How can you capture your audience using imagery? Colours? Even common phrases to do with houseplants?

People like consistency. And when your content feels consistent, they feel safe. There’s a rhythm.

Now how do you go about finding your theme, without trolling on others social media?

Point 2.

Use your everyday life and experience

You’ll never believe it - but I once wrote a full landing page copywriting document solely based on the theme on Zumba! Pahh, I know right! But tell me this, who doesn’t love Zumba? (If you don’t - then either you have a cold heart - or two left feet) Honestly, the copy was sizzling HAWT, it felt like a Zumba class, and I was able to metaphorically match up the challenges of copywriting to the types of participants in the class! It all came about because, well…you guessed it, I went to a Zumba class that very day!

Using our everyday life and experience not only adds in our personality but it allows us to create content that is meaningful! When we can express with meaning, it translates to our audience. They get to know us, they feel that we too are HUMAN and not a generated message or algorithm.

But how do you resist the urge to copy and paste?

Point 3.

No CTRL C & V

I know the easy option is just to copy and paste. BUT DON’T! I promise you, the quick fix is not your solution. Read some books, use the thesaurus and come up with some spicy words yourself! As a Brit - we have plenty of sayings - that may not always resonate with the majority of the online community - but it sure does add my flavour - and I don’t need to copy and paste. Think to yourself what phrases you use on a daily basis, and how can you incorporate those into your content.

By all means, find inspiration. That’s what these digital applications are here for right! Otherwise we’d still be on Microsoft Paint (Crikey! Could you imagine that?!) But take the templates, and make them your own!

Point 4.

Don’t get distracted.

Colour, graphics and sparkly things can be fun - but don’t blind them. Allow your audience to actually read what the message is trying to say. When we find our groove with the branding, it can be easy, almost addictive to throw up on the page. Ya know, give them everything you got - noooo, slow down baby! White space is just as important as the colour and the imagery. If your content is wordy, can you break things up onto different pages? If your content doesn’t have many words, how are you using the space? In summary, if you become distracted from the message, then your audience will too. After-all, the main purpose of content is to advertise or market something else, and if all your audience can remember is how amazing that typeface was, then you’re barking up the wrong content tree my friend. Keep it simple. It will save you time too!
